International Multidisciplinary Workshop

Berlin - Germany  |   01 - 06 July 2020

The program is designed as a multidisciplinary lab for experienced actors, dancers, physical performers, contemporary circus performers, choreographers and directors -performing arts practitioners with professional stage experience working in various genres, techniques and styles - interested in expanding their practical skills, develop international network opportunities and collaborators.

The workshop offers a stimulating environment in which students are able to develop their own movement skills as well as to learn how to direct movement in the performance piece.

These are some of the elements uniquely transformed and combined in Ostrenko's teaching system to suit the needs of contemporary performers, directors and teachers.

Participants will practically explore the performer's physicality

as the principal creative instrument, the key to form and style an atmosphere and emotional palette in contemporary performance, stepping beyond the limits of normative text-based acting.

Practical sessions develop in the form of various exercises that progress from simple to compound.

Participants gradually proceed from solo to group improvisations and structures. Every day sets a spectrum of advanced creative tasks, developing the preceding steps. Through the system of consecutive exercises, the group establishes a common language and trust, an ability to collaborate and create together.

The program includes intensive practical training, lectures, and discussion forums under the guidance of the theatre director, choreographer and teacher Sergei Ostrenko.

All students enrolling in this intensive One-Week Workshop should be aware that this is an introductory course. The limitations of a one-week course should be apparent, given that many people spend years studying and perfecting the craft.

The workshop working language is English.
